About Jackson Consulting

Jackson Consulting's mission is to provide first class Pre-K-12 literacy and reading professional development and technical assistance to federal and state educational agencies, private educational organizations, school districts, and consortiums with a result of improved teacher expertise and student literacy performance.

The Jackson Consulting Literacy consultants embody three main attributes:

• Expert knowledge of the Scientifically Based Reading Research and a fierce commitment to the continual study and integration of the research into the consulting work
• Exceptional knowledge of the systemic change process and the essential steps in shaping a school, district or state system to ensure sustainable student achievement
• Commitment to the integration of preferred teaching and leadership methods with expert knowledge of the scientifically based researched literacy programs at all grade levels

About Jill Jackson

Jill Jackson founded Jackson Consulting with the goal of "getting real" about literacy issues and deciphering the reasons that inhibit and impede literacy achievement for all students. After years of classroom teaching, literacy coaching, administration, and private consulting, Jill has developed a reputation for her reality checks and her sense of humor, and is recognized for being able to address "the elephant in the room" so that each group she presents to can get to the heart of the real issues. As a former teacher, she understands the value of useful professional development and technical assistance and knows the frustrations educators feel when required to listen to a "talking head." Whether she's in the classroom demonstrating lessons, strategizing with the superintendent or training veteran literacy coaches, Jill's advice and assistance is deeply rooted in the reality of school life and focused on unambiguous next steps which lead to clear outcomes.

Jill is a firm believer that dancing around the real issues does nothing but lead to frustration, and that every agency or school must create a simple system of accountability with next steps that include everyone involved – from the highest position of leadership to the classroom teacher. As Jill often tells her audience – teaching reading IS rocket science and it IS everybody's business.
